    Data Sources

    Our tire test data is aggregated from multiple independent testing organizations across Europe, including ADAC, TCS, Auto Bild, Auto Motor und Sport, and other respected automotive publications.

    Independent Testing

    All data comes from real-world tests conducted by independent organizations with no commercial bias.

    Standardized Conditions

    Tests are conducted under controlled conditions with identical vehicles and surfaces for fair comparison.

    The Tire Lab Score

    Our proprietary scoring system weighs performance metrics based on tire category to give you a single, easy-to-understand number. Lower scores are better (1.0 = always first place).

    Metrics Explained

    Wet Braking

    Stopping distance on wet surfaces at 80-100 km/h. Critical for safety in rain.

    Dry Braking

    Stopping distance on dry asphalt at high speeds. Essential for everyday driving.

    Snow Braking

    Stopping performance on snow-covered roads. Key metric for winter conditions.

    🧊 Ice Braking

    Stopping ability on icy surfaces. Most relevant for Nordic winter tires.

    Mileage / Wear

    Expected tire longevity based on tread wear testing. Higher values mean longer life.

    Rolling Resistance

    Energy efficiency affecting fuel/electricity consumption. Lower is better.

    Our Methodology

    1. Data Collection: We aggregate test results from reputable automotive publications that conduct standardized tire tests.

    2. Ranking Calculation: Within each test, tires are ranked by performance in each metric (1st place = best, lower = better).

    3. Cross-Test Aggregation: We calculate average rankings across all tests where a tire appears, giving well-tested tires more reliable scores.

    4. Weighted Scoring: The Tire Lab Score applies category-specific weights to create a single comparable number across different tire types.

    5. Percentile Ranking: We show how each tire compares to all others in our database, so you know if you're looking at a top 5% performer.
